This excellent 2 day course gives everyone the opportunity to make their own piece of floating recreation whether it is for fishing, exploring local backwaters or just relaxing on the water.
All the materials are provided and the student will gain enough traditional skills and knowledge to complete the project.
Normally after this course students take home a completed coracle that only needs a few coats of tar for waterproofing. The tar is also provided.
It is more than just a couple of good days out in the woods it gives an opportunity to get back to nature with fellow students and do something our ancestors were doing 10,000 years ago.
9.00am Introduction over a cup of tea (available at any time of the day)
9.30am Principles of the coracle with brief history
10.00am Briefing & demonstration on how to use the tools safely
11.00am Start work on the coracle with instruction
12.30pm Flexible lunch time, soup & bread provided
13.00pm Continue working on the coracle
17.00pm End of day clear up
What to bring:
Warm clothes that you don’t mind getting damaged and one spare set of clothes you don’t mind getting wet.
Hot drinks are provided with soup and bread for lunch, but please bring a packed lunch if more is required.
